MEET OUR COFFEE BUYER, ROBERT
Robert began his coffee education pursuit by taking a position with Granex International, an exporting firm in Costa Rica. Working on farms, wet mills and dry mills led to continued moves to Peru and Mexico with a brief interim in New York at the coffee trading desk.
Returning to the U.S. in 1992, he took a position as coffee buyer with a Specialty Coffee firm in Orlando, Florida (Barnie’s Coffee & Tea Co.), and then, in 1997, accepted a position with a large West Coast Institutional/ Specialty Roaster (Boyd Coffee Co.).
In December 2001, Robert joined Ronnoco Coffee Co. as their coffee buyer. His background includes extensive travels to coffee producing countries around the world in sourcing, as well as evaluating quality.
As you might expect, language skills are important in the areas he travels, and thus he is fluent in both Spanish and French.
